"Welcome to Heaven" examines the relationship between social disillusionment, personal vulnerability and the human need for hope. The starting point of the work is the question of which images arise when the present is increasingly experienced as a place of uncertainty, overwork and loss of control. The series moves between the material traces of a vulnerable world and the idea of a utopian afterlife. Old denim fabrics or wooden panels over which seams, stains and visible repairs are drawn, serve as image carriers and refer to use, transience and vulnerability. The surfaces are reminiscent of bodies that bear traces of time and experience. The earthy, damaged pictures on the left side of the wall are contrasted with colorful paintings on the right side, populated by angels, floating "higher beings" with open gestures. The angels do not appear as religious symbols, but as projection surfaces for comfort, belonging and the idea of another form of existence. They embody the longing for a place beyond social conflicts, ecological crises and individual loss experiences. The work also incorporates pictorial representations that are known from reports of people with near-death experiences, such as the idea of a transition, a bright light or a receiving counterpart. These motifs are taken up in abstract form and form a reference space for the idea of a possible "after".
The work does not understand escapism as a denial of reality, but as a counter-reaction or coping. The imaginary image worlds arise from the inner conflict with present conditions and the desire for healing, community and a fulfilled future. In this field of tension, painting becomes a space in which collective fears become visible as well as the persistence of human hope.
